This is an old advertisment for my new bike!!
There is also even a site for it!!
I still need to find out the exact year of the bike though…
I will try to post pictures when I can, and possibly a restoration report.

More information about my motorcycle

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

I researched a bit more about my KZ-400. I took a look at the bike for the frame serial numbers and the engine serial numbers.

    Frame Serial Number: K4-534934
    Engine Serial Number: K4E111241

I then tried to look it up on the website I mentioned before. It seems that is it closest to the 1977 KZ400-D4

    Frame Serial Number: K4-527592~
    Engine Serial Number: K4E096450~

OK, now that I have found the model now what?

When I checked the motorcycle out last weekend, we tried to first see if all of the electrial of the bike was working. How we did this was to simply remove the battery that was in there, and to then connect it with a battery we knew worked. It didn’t work…

The kill switch on the bike is broken off, so there is a good possibility in which, that is the reason.

I now need to find a kill switch part to the bike. I am still not completely sure if the bike wouldn’t even power-up if the kill switch was off…

EDIT: I will need to work on the kill switch as per the Wiring Diagram.

Motorcycle Update

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I spent a few hours on Saturday, August 2nd working on my Motorcycle. When comparing the kill switch I bought on ebay, with the one on the bike, I noticed that the kill switch I bought didn’t have a start button on it, but the one on my bike did… I also noticed after dissembling the kill switch on my bike, that it was bypassed. Therefore, I believe that the electric is not going for an entirely different reason. I printed out the wiring diagram for the bike on large paper and laminated it, I also printed out the shop manual. I’m hoping I will be able to narrow down the problem soon. I will be buying a new battery for it, and will continue my search for the correct kill switch…
